The mission of Sunrise Bistro and Catering has been to spread balanced, high quality and delicious food across the Bay Area since 1981.

Established in 1981 in downtown Walnut Creek, Sunrise Bistro and Catering are dedicated to serving new, organic, home-made foods in the Bay Area. They are committed to cooking from scratch, making almost everything they serve at home, from baking their sandwich breads to making their own amazing salad dressings. They are experts in sustainable practices and source organic food wherever possible. They firmly believe in the true food ideology and minimize the addition of any artificial food / ingredients.

It all started in 1981 when Cindy Gershen opened Sunrise Bakery and Café. People lined up the door to pick up her freshly baked breads and pastries. Business was so powerful, in fact, that it quickly overcame that location and opened Sunrise Bistro a block way, continuing the home-made tradition, but extending it into lovingly-made breakfast , lunch and dinner entrees. What do we mean by saying “healthy” fare? Combining new, locally produced and renewable ingredients in recipes that resist trans-fats and high-fructose corn syrup, as well as the traditional overuse of salt and sugar. Avoiding these ingredients will eventually improve the taste and texture of all the healthy food at Sunrise. At 3 a.m. every day, delicious breads, pastries and cookies are baked on site. From scratch, salad dressings, berry compote and barbecue sauces, to name a few, are also prepared. It’s all about offering Sunrise patrons the same beautifully prepared food that Cindy serves to her own family in her own family and friends.

As winners of the “Best of the East Bay, Catering” award by Diablo Magazine and the “Best of Walnut Creek, Brunch” award by Walnut Creek Magazine, they have nothing more relevant than satisfying their clients. They’re hoping to see you soon.

Best business event / lunch catering. There are a lot of healthy options and reasonably priced. They serve great portions and, overall, just great food. Mary’s chicken salads are a hit along with potato salad, quinoa salad and pasta salad.

Full service events

Please have your date booked at least three months in advance, however they try to accommodate all requests, particularly memorial receptions.
