Va de Vi translates, “It’s all about wine! ” in the Catalan language of Spain. It’s all about food, of course! Executive Chef Mike Fischetti ‘s menu invites diners to sample and share a selection of diverse, international small-plate portions. Bold tastes inspire diners to discover the vast international wine list, easily navigated by tasting notes. Many wines are offered by the glass in addition to pre-arranged flights to allow diners to compare different wines and discover new favorites. A soft, casual elegance defines the atmosphere. Outdoors, dine under an ancient oak tree or catch a table on a picturesque road.

The outdoor dining area is very welcoming, surrounded by exposed bricks, water fountains, a massive Koi pond, creating a lush landscape. There’s plenty of outdoor seating under this huge tree that gives everyone plenty of shade. So if you’re afraid of the sun, there’s no need to worry about it, because they also have parasols on the patio. This place is perfect for a date night , especially when the lights of the tree are lit at night while listening to the calming sound of the koi pond. It’s a perfect place to dine with your girlfriends, too. Great for everyone, essentially.

About The Chef

Mike Fischetti, Chief Executive

Though Brooklyn-born Mike Fischetti counts two Miami Chefs as his mentors, directing him in his technique and helping to grow his palate, his grandma was his main inspiration for his career in cooking.

After graduating from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale , Florida in 2006, he joined forces with Cindy Hutson at Ortanique in Coral Gables, working from Line Cook to Sous Chef, and then with Chef de Cuisine at Ortanique in Grand Cayman, who received the AAA 5-Star Diamond Award while he was at the helm.

Returning to Miami, Mike was Chef de Cuisine at Zest and Zest MRKT, a contemporary restaurant offering an ethnically diverse and seasonal culinary approach that embraces global cuisine with shades of island flavours.

While contemplating their next move, Mike and his wife fondly recalled a trip they had taken to Napa, and realized the Bay Area would be a perfect fit for the both of them. With his wife looking to further her career in the wine industry and Mike’s passion for fresh , high-quality ingredients, they chose East Bay as their new home in January 2018. Chef Mike brings his special culinary perspective and flavors to Va de Vi’s well-known international concept of small plates.
