Foothill Middle School

In the Mount Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) in Contra Costa County, Foothill Middle School, a Walnut Creek suburban school, is committed to providing a healthy, orderly, respectful and welcoming atmosphere conducive to academic learning and self-growth. We concentrate on the priorities of MDUSD and the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for our Career Technical Education (CTE); Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM); and the use of technology in all campus classes. The goal of Foothill is to provide a learning environment dedicated to helping all students to achieve academic success and to develop the skills to be a global citizen of the 21st century. Teachers, administrators, students, parents/guardians, and members of the community are making a concerted effort to excel in our mission. Help through academic services such as an added advisory duration on most school days, a peer tutoring program; staff and student community building practices; and the use of Constructive Behavior Strategies and Resources (PBIS) and other student discipline and attendance correction approaches (OMC) have added to our aim of meeting the needs of all students. A collaborative project with MDUSD and Foothill grows our students and continuously nurtures them.

Foothill Middle School, which has been serving students for more than 50 years, is proud of its legacy and ongoing development through rigorous and demanding academic curricula and social and emotional improvement opportunities through programs, classes, and clubs. Students are enriched by resources based on visual and performing arts, ecology, community service, and more through courses, activities, and after-school clubs. Technology is embedded into our curriculum and is critical in preparing students with and above the California Content State Requirements (CCSS).

Foothill continues to concentrate on student learning, encompassing their social and emotional needs, through engagement, appreciation, and purposeful work on the school environment and a vision of our future. A healthy school atmosphere and community is promoted by our Related Student Body and Leadership Program. As a group, we are actively working to foster acceptance and understanding, discuss the urgent challenges of today, including the correct use of social media, and stand together against bullying and harassment.
