Tice Creek School is the Walnut Creek School District’s K-8 public school. Enrollment is available to families who live within the Walnut Creek School District’s attendance limits and happens via the process of intra-district transfer. Students who are interested in attending Tice Creek must first register at their home school and then apply to attend via the process of intra-district transfer. Tice Creek becomes your home school once a learner is enrolled in our school.

In the Walnut Creek School District, Tice Creek is special since it is the only K-8 school in the district, and through our signature Project Oriented Learning activity. Students are challenged to focus on real-world issues with real-world consequences by approaching the Common Core State Standards curriculum by Project Based Learning (PBL). The approach includes the four C’s of 21st-century learning to be used by students: teamwork, critical thinking, innovation and communication. As students study a driving question, classes are also assisted by an industry expert to direct students and provide input on projects that have been attempted. A commodity or result that is frequently delivered to an authentic audience finishes with of PBL unit. Students are encouraged to participate in the cycle of inquiry in this process: asking questions, finding responses, and creating new questions along the way.
