Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. is a retail chain with headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. The store provides a large range of natural and organic foods including fresh produce, bulk foods, vitamins and supplements, premium grocery, meat and seafood, deli, baked goods, dairy products, frozen meals, natural body care, and household items. Sprouts have over 35,000 people and operate over 340 stores in 23 states. A typical store is around 30,000 sq ft. Fortune listed Sprouts in their 2018 and 2019 list of World’s Most Admired Businesses.

Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. was founded by members of the Boney family, longtime San Diego grocers with an emphasis on making affordable fresh foods. In 2002, the company opened its first store in Chandler, Ariz. with ample produce and thousands of fresh, organic, and great-tasting foods at relatively low prices. The Sprouts story continued with a period of rapid growth through acquisitions and the construction of new stores. Sprouts entered Henry’s Holdings in 2011, which ran 35 Farmers Markets stores in Henry, and eight Sun Harvest Market stores. The company bought Sunflower Farmers Market a year later and ran 37 stores. Stores magazine called Sprouts No. 1 ‘New Retailer’ in 2012. It then became a public company in August 2013 listed on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange. Today, Sprouts operates more than 165 stores in eight states and has become one of America’s leading specialty retailers of both natural and organic products.
