About the Town of ​​Moraga, California

Moraga is a town in Contra Costa County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Joaquín Moraga, a member of the illustrious Californio family, son of Gabriel Moraga, and grandson of José Joaquín Moraga (famous 18th-century expeditionary of Alta California) was named after him.

Joaquin Moraga and Juan Bernal received a Mexican land grant, Rancho Laguna de Los Palos Colorados, in 1835. The portion of the grant that is now known as Moraga Ranch was another part of it. Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School, a middle school in Moraga, is named after him.
