10 Tips To Help You Wax

WAXING AT HOME JUST GOT A WHOLE LOT EASIER WITH THESE TIPS

People can’t survive without their daily waxing appointments, however laborious the job may be. Getting it done every month can be time consuming and costly. What if we told you that all the trips to the salon could be avoided, and your waxing can be completed in the comfort of your home?

It can be pretty simple and cheap. First, you need to invest in a good quality wax and get the strips (if it’s the type of hair that needs strips). It’s easy enough, after that. Follow the guidelines we’ve set out for you and you’re good to start waxing off your unwanted hair!

  • Preparation of kit
  • Examine hair length
  • Track your menstrual cycle
  • Exfoliation
  • Hygiene
  • Check your skin
  • Wax Temperature
  • Right direction
  • Clothing
  • Skip gym

  • Preparation of kit

Keep all necessary materials such as wax and wax plates, talcum powder, aloe gel and some ice cubes. Carefully select the wax that works for you. If you have sensitive skin, pick the one that has been clinically checked and is suited to your skin to avoid irritation. Waxes based on aloe vera are also a sure bet.

  • Examine hair length

Your hair length should be at least 1⁄4 inch, so the waxing is easier. If the length is lower, and you wax frequently, then it is likely to irritate your skin and cause ingrown hair.

  • Track your menstrual cycle

If waxing causes you some pain, then we suggest you do not do it just before the start of your monthly cycle. Avoid this also during your cycle. Wait until your menstruation cycle is over. This is because during this time, your skin is more sensitive to pain and thus may become redder than usual.

  • Exfoliation

Even if the exfoliation is good for your skin, it is not recommended to do it right before a waxing session. This makes your skin responsive and can result to allergies, pain and burns. Exfoliate your skin two-three times a week to make your hair soft and expose ingrown hair. This will make waxing easier. Avoid exfoliation one day prior to your waxing session.

  • Hygiene

Hygiene is the most important thing that you should take care of. Until you wax, clean your palms, skin and equipment. This is important because waxing can result in small cuts and bruises that can allow bacteria to get in. With an anti-bacterial solution, sterilize the waxing spatula.

  • Check your skin

Before waxing, make sure to check for bruises, burns and pimples on your skin. Stop waxing in and around such areas as this can cause allergies and infections to the skin.

  • Wax Temperature

Using very hot wax can cause burns. It can’t be cold, on the other hand, because it won’t spread evenly on your skin. Wax temperature should be neither too hot nor too cold.

  • Right direction

The wax should be applied in even strokes in a direction opposite to the direction of hair growth. If the hair grows in a haphazard way, try applying the wax in one direction first, and then another, until all hair has been extracted.

  • Clothing

Wear light, breathable and loose cotton clothes which will cover your body for your skin to heal after the waxing session. Do not wear anything too tight for the newly waxed skin to be abrasive.

  •  Skip gym

Working out after waxing is a big “no – no” because the pores are open and the skin becomes sensitive. The sweat can cause irritation to the skin and can cause rashes or pigmentation.
