What Should I Do Before Getting A Facial?
What to wear is one of the most frequently asked questions about a pro facial. This question has a simple answer: wear whatever makes you feel good! Although it isn’t critical what you wear, you should keep in mind that changing back into tight or uncomfortable clothing after your facial can not be the most satisfying way to end such a relaxing service. We recommend wearing easy-to-change clothing, but if you’re coming straight from work or a case, don’t worry about it.
Is it necessary to wash your face before getting a facial? There’s no need to remove your makeup before your facial because your esthetician will remove it all during the cleaning part of the procedure. And if you aren’t wearing makeup, the washing part of the facial takes place, so wearing makeup won’t add time to the procedure.
When you arrive, your esthetician will send you a robe to wear over your clothes so you can remove as much as you want. You should, however, always remove your shirt to allow your esthetician access to your face, neck, and shoulders. If it makes you more relaxed, keep your bra on, but make sure the straps are pulled down so your esthetician can give you a good neck and shoulder massage. Many clients keep their pants on, but if your robe is long enough, you can remove them if it is more comfortable for you. In the end, your esthetician would not judge you based on what you’re wearing, so wear whatever makes you feel relaxed.
How to prepare for a facial:
There isn’t anything you can do the day or week before a facial to plan, but there are a few things to bear in mind.
- Get the full details from your aesthetician before your first facial.
Most spas require all clients to complete a questionnaire that can show a lot about their skin. If you’re unsure which service is right for you, schedule a 15-minute consultation before your appointment.
- Skip your beauty face creams, and show up bare-faced.
AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) is a common ingredient in many anti-aging and acne-fighting creams that can cause inflammation and redness in the skin. When it comes to mascara, the same law applies. Those five to ten minutes you spent scrubbing your lashes may have been better spent on extraction or a facial massage.
- Schedule in at least one (but no more than two!) facials per month.
Please TAKE NOTE of this reminder.
- Take good care of your skin between appointments.
Much as skipping the gym for a few weeks can have an impact on your toned muscles, so can skipping the gym for a few weeks have an impact on your skin. Exfoliating once a week, applying SPF regularly, and not picking your skin or face are the easiest ways to take care of your skin at home.
- Keep an eye out for excessive redness.
If you’re still experiencing redness or itchiness after a week, you should seek the advice of a skin expert or professional.
- Expect breakouts.
Having a facial the day before a big date is definitely not a good idea, particularly if it’s your first time seeing the aesthetician (or getting a facial altogether!).
