Commerce generally refers to the macro-economic purchase and sale of goods and services by large organizations on a scale. The sale or purchase of a single item by a consumer is defined as a transaction, while trade refers to all transactions relating to the purchase and sale of that item in the economy. Most of the trade is conducted internationally and represents the purchase and sale of goods between nations.
