How Does Spray Tanning Work?
Bronzed and charming. Tanned and in shape. Golden and warm. You have heard all of that. If you want to look fine, you need to have a healthy tan. No matter the time of year, everyone is keen to keep that summer glow. Fortunately, spray tans allow you to achieve the right look. How does tanning spray work? We’ve got your answer. It depends on whether you hop in an automated booth or a technician with a handheld device wants to spray it.
The process works with Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a chemical. These chemicals are actually colorless but they interact with the amino acids that occur naturally in skin cells. The skin cells become several shades darker when they come in contact. While it might sound suspicious to think of spraying yourself with a chemical that causes your skin cells to turn brown, DHA is absolutely safe. It has no known health risks, and has been used for decades for cosmetic purposes. DHA ‘s results tend to last no longer than a week. If you want to maintain your beautiful bronze glow, you’ll need to pencil in your local spray tanning salon on frequent trips.
