The Del Valle Theater will take you to the streets of Paris and the Club Versailles in New York City when Pure Piaf: The Life and Music of Edith Piaf takes place later this month at the Del Valle Theater Lesher Center, just outside the gates of Rossmoor. Pure Piaf is the gripping story of Edith Piaf; her turbulent rise to international stardom, as well as her loves and losses. Via Alex Ryer’s portrait of Piaf, you’ll see why the traffic stopped in the streets of Paris in the news of her death in 1963.
From an obscure street singer to the world’s highest paying singer, Piaf’s life, as depicted in Pure Piaf, is a must-see entertainment experience. Denver Post’s theater critic, John Moore, said this in his 2006 review of Pure Piaf’s world premiere: “Many men would leave Pure Piaf feeling like they’ve been swept up in a short, torrid love affair. Many women may quit in search of one.” Theater critic David Marlowe wrote, “Pure Piaf is pure passion and pure strength.” Pure Piaf earned the Denver Post Ovation Award for Best New Work that year and Alex Ryer was nominated Best Actress in Musical.
