Diablo Foothills Regional Park

The Livorna Trailhead is located in Mount Diablo State Park, providing fast and immediate access to the park. This path is lined with rare rock formations and beautiful oak-studded grasslands.The Castle Rock Road and Borges Ranch trailheads provide an additional entrance to the park. It’s a relatively small park, but at the very least it doesn’t limit its possibilities. It stretches over 1060 acres and you will notice Shell Ridge Open Space bordering it to the north and Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area to the east if you look around during your hike.Combined, the total area is an outstanding 18,000 acres-the undisputed paradise of a nature lover.

It is basically the key to Mount Diablo State Park’s expansive parks and open space for the Walnut Creek. Although there are no specially developed facilities in the park, the sweeping bird’s eye views of the region of San Francisco Bay and the striking geological formations are widely noted. Also a sight to behold is the rural, earthy nature of the gently rolling grasslands. Although you may find some steep sections here and there, essentially the footing for the hike is effortless. Spring is the perfect season for a tour, as both wildflowers and wildlife flourish.

The outstanding hike starts in a wooded canyon and climbs to the top of a knoll dotted with blue oak. Under splendid isolation, it borders the suburbs and thrives.The view from Mount Diablo’s Shell Ridge is unique and you are also likely to get a glimpse of the formation of the China Wall rock. The region also offers a wide range of vegetative ecosystems-from the hills ‘ wetlands and oak savanna to the valley’s oak forests.

The park has large, open spaces for activities such as bicycling, biking, riding on horseback and studying nature. The park also has many bird species – northern mockingbirds, California quail, red winged blackbirds, and scrub jay – each can be easily seen.Trekkers also often come across lizards from the southern alligators, lizards from the western fence, and California Salamanders.

There are two entrances to the park-the staging area north and south.

The large water bodies in the area, especially during the scorching summer, play a role in moderating the temperature.The trails that straddle the briones of East Bay Park to the local path of Mt. Diablo as it enters and leaves the park are ideal for dog trekking. In fact, it is quite easy to notice how the surrounding communities and tourists alike embrace and enjoy the safe spaces.
